Ah what fun. First of all Hanoi Rocks WERE astouding at the Shepherd's Bush Empire a couple of months ago. It could have been 1983. Andy was wasted and completely off his rocker and Mike was on fire as usual. As for "12 shots", curse me if you like but I think it's the finest thing with Hanoi's name on it. You're quite right though I don't think Andy played on a lot of it. I'm sure a lot of the guitar was Adam Bomb (Pink Gibson).

It's great to have someone who was around in the heady days of the late 80's in London on the site. Those were good times eh, Paul? I used to know Julian quite well. Whatever happened to him? I guess we knew all the same people. I was the other blond bombshell in London at the time. Unfortunately I tried so hard to look like Mike Monroe version 2 I got lost along the way somewhere!

No cursing you Andy! Hell, even if I don't think "12 Shots" is up to par for Hanoi, it is still a danm site better than 95% of music that is on the radio! Plus, even if I see it as a pale Hanoi-clone, I would rather see Mike and Andy themselves trying to make a name off of the Hanoi Legacy rather then somebody else.

Hell, I just wish I could like it more than I do!

What I wouldn't have given to have been in the UK circa '83-'89!!! Instead, I sat there reading my Kerrangs and trying to put together a look that was damn near impossible to do since NOBODY in this godforsaken country knew what was cool!!!

But Carl, I thought that all the coolest bands came from LA - at least that's what Kerrang! seemed to be telling us from '88 anyway! They completely ignored the fact that they had a great scene of their own in London. Still, I'm sure they made the manufacturers of cowboy boots and bandanas happy! Looking forward to the Buttz interview for some entertainment - I always expected him to end up hosting his own TV show. A very witty gentleman.

Gawd - a Roses anthology! That's what happens when you don't get off your arses and do something yourselves. Maybe it isn't too late - not sure who has the mastertapes though...

I ended up deliberately trying NOT to look like Monroe, Andy, 'cause the endless references were getting a bit tiresome. Trouble was that when I took the drastic measure of dyeing my hair red he did the same thing! Anyway, as for Joolz, I haven't spoken to him for over two years (an appallingly shameful fact I know).I think he finally got sick of the poor quality of the beer down here and moved back 'oop North' a while ago. He's still involved in music as far as I'm aware. It's obviously about time I gave him a call. After all, 'So Alone' was written about him!

Yeah I was around in London those days too.Saw Soho Roses few times etc.And as most people know I will not get into another discussion about this 'new Hanoi Rocks',as got absolute hell for it last time,huh and heh.So will keep out of that discussion.

From what I gather I'm in a similar situation to Rocky - being a husband and father and having to work to pay the mortgage. Consequently I have very little time for music: the guitars lie around gathering dust and the only singing I do is the odd verse of 'Bob The Builder' for my two-year-old! I do keep up with what's going on though and get to gigs if it's someone worth seeing.

Dropping you a line in a few Paul. Been without a computer for most of the weekend.

As many will be able to tell you here though, for me true pain has always been the fact that I can't stand the majority of the LA Sunset Strip/Poison style Glam. I live for the old 70's style and moreso the stuff that was going on in the UK. Since the mid-80's there were always three bands that I was always busting my ass to try and hear, but that NONE of my distributers were able to get for me back in the day. Those three bands were The Babysitters, Marionette, and Soho Roses. You all were obsessions for me in a way. I had pix of you guys, and everything Kerrang wrote about you, but it wasn't until Andii sent me the stuff a few years ago that I finally heard you.

Funny thing is, I have now done lengthy emails with Buttz and have now contacted you! Now all I need is to find somebody from Marionette and the trilogy is complete.

Oh, and your band has been the only one of the three that has been 100% worth the wait to hear. Since Andii got me the recordings, the CD burn (sorry) I made of it has been going everywhere with me. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I totally agree, Carl. We seem to have similar taste - or lack of it! Did Buttz ever tell you about the incident when Poison tried to get into his club?

I'll see if I can do anything to help complete your trio.
